Fourth of July Fireworks
In past years, the Beaver Island fireworks display was launched from a barge towed in lazy circles by the American Girl. This year, a different program was planned, but when nothing happened by 10:00, and then by 10:10 -- except the starbursts on the horizon from Good Hart, Cross Village, and Waugoshance Point -- people gathered around the Harbor began to wonder. At 10:20 it finally began, and it proved to be well worth the wait.  Launched from Whiskey Point, the dazzling display could be seen from every dock and beech in town.  It held everyone's attention until the grand finale, a multiple pyrotechnic explosion at almost 11:00, saluted by the energetic car and boat horns of the satisfied crowd.
